This is our apartment building! 345 Bayshore Blvd, and that's
our apartment there (#511), hightlighted in red. You're facing northeast
looking at it right now, and the bay is directly behind you, as is Tampa
General Hospital. Now you'll slowly start to rotate to your right... |
 |
...you now have a great view of downtown Tampa as well as the sailboats
moored directly across Bayshore Blvd from our apartment. This picture
was taken from the bridge connecting Tampa to Davis Island, which is where
the hospital is located. Turning a bit farther to the right... |
 |
...you get another view of downtown Tampa plus the convention center/Ice
Palace, where concerts, hockey games, and so forth are held on another
island called Harbour Island. You can see a rainbow on the right
(since it storms here daily, I had a good chance of catching one), and
you can just make out a corner of Tampa General there on the right edge
of the picture. So turning a bit farther to the right...
|
 |
...you get the full view of Tampa General Hospital. As you
can see, it sits on an island in Tampa Bay, and as this picture was taken
from our apartment building, the only thing separating us from where Roy
works is Bayshore Blvd and a small strip of water with a handy-dandy bridge
crossing it. Now, turning a bit more to the right, again from our
building...
|
|
...you'll see the bridge I keep talking about that links Tampa
and Davis Island. The water is Tampa Bay. This picture was taken during
high tide after Hurricane Gordon, and you can see that Bayshore Blvd is
flooded, and waves are splashing over it as people stand around watching.

|
This image was from the front page of the Tampa Tribune on the
morning after the hurricane. You can see that Bayshore Blvd is good
and flooded (note the canoe), and the waters of the Bay come right over
the wall. That yellow building on the right is our apartment building,
and the buildings to the left are downtown Tampa.
